Oceanless On the Making Of “Jaded”
What was the creative process like for this particular single?
The way “Jaded” was put together during the creative process is far from conventional practice. The song was initially written and self-recorded in mid-January 2023. It was then re worked and re-recorded many times. We believe this has helped the track reach a sonic presence that we are both thrilled with. The track features elements from every step of this process and experience of over year of live performances to really lock in the nuances.
We finally tracked “JADED” with Manchester-based producer Dan Crowther.
Were there any challenges or breakthrough moments during the songwriting process for "Jaded?"
The challenge we faced was the decision of which sections and stems should be kept in the final version. There were certain elements we enjoyed in every version.
What impact do you hope "Jaded" will have on your audience?
The track details issues within the music industry regarding major record labels and their corrupt ways. We hope other musicians hear the message in ‘JADED’ and empathise with the struggles whilst highlighting the issues to the general public simultaneously. Over time this will bring a fair and stable music industry. USE SECTION FROM EPK ABOUT JADED BEING AGAINST LABELS.
How did your band members initially come together?
We have been friends for over 13 years and have been playing and writing music together for around 10 years. Originally kicking off our musical journey in Birmingham where we met to now reside in Manchester.
Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?
We both have a vast catalog of new and old music, mainly rock oriented but both stray into wildly different sub genres, this is what we believe helps us to have such an individual sound.
Will for example will listen to hip-hop and more indie rock and George normally leans more towards heavier rock or metal.
Our inspiration from life experiences changes rapidly and we are constantly learning & evolving so much while studying the music industry. We also pull inspiration from running our Independent promotions company Bad Saint Promotions.
