Emma Martin Releases “keep it to yourself”

Emma Martin, a rising artist hailing from Denver, United States, is set to captivate listeners with her original single titled "keep it to yourself." Released on the 20th of February 2024, Emma's musical journey began with her and her producer working tirelessly in a small cabin studio, fostering a creative partnership that has evolved over time. Delving into the emotional depths of her senior year, Emma poured her heart and soul into crafting "keep it to yourself," a poignant reflection of personal struggles and resilience. The raw authenticity of her lyrics and the carefully curated instrumentation underscore the significance of this release in Emma's artistic evolution. As she continues to navigate her path as a musician, Emma's music serves as a beacon of hope and connection, inviting listeners to join her on a journey of self-discovery and expression.

What's the story behind this release?

I wrote this release during a very dark time in my life. It was the winter of my senior year. After a prolonged struggle to get through high school, the lyrics just poured out of me. I refined the song multiple times until it felt right to me. Writing songs is my way of pushing through even the toughest times of my life. I gives me a shred of hope when I feel almost nothing. Something I love to showcase through my music is that everyone struggles. It is real and it is authentic. Pain and endeavor are parts of life that complete us as humans. Out of all the songs I had written at the time, this one felt right to release at the time, when my feelings about it were at their strongest. I'm known for being a very emotional girl, and it shows through my music.

Tell us what makes this release stand out and why it's significant

This release shows a step in finding myself as an artist and a person. Nothing makes sense at this age, and I don't know when and how I'll find my sound. I'm still on my way to finding it. My two previous songs, "u always won" and "How I Turned Out Like This" are also two significant pieces of work that showcase those specific times in my life and how my influences have changed, and how they will continue to change.

Where did the recording take place?

The recording took place in a mini studio inside a cabin next to a road I'd taken many times, surrounded by nature and a couple small houses on a hill. It was a comfortable environment, and it brought this peaceful feeling that felt right for recording these songs.

Do you have any recent or upcoming performances to highlight?

As a current college freshman in Denver, Colorado, I'm playing a few upcoming shows around the Denver area to build an audience (fanbase) and a community.

Can you briefly describe what the song/each song is about? If you are releasing an album then either describe the thinking behind the project or choose a couple of lead tracks to focus on.

I hope my music reaches an audience that believes in me enough to watch me grow and evolve as an artist. To keep creating art that is real and consuming, something that people can lean on. Because music has been and always will be something I lean on when I need it most.
