asteraceae “.rebirth”

asteraceae explores futuristic melancholia in his latest release “.rebirth,” a genre-fluid sonic experience featuring lead vocalist TEGA and backing vocals provided by Madelena. The aesthetics of cyberpunk and experimental electronic weaves together in a soulful exploration, tapping into a deeper emotive space with a twist of spirituality and cosmos.

Taking place in a high tech sonic world, a deep sounding dystopia is embedded in highly sensitive, soulful melodies that twist and turn like smoke in the air. Delays come in echoes. Even the briefest melodies are sensual. Beneath the superficial layers of sounds seem to be something buried even deeper, but the fizzy edges blurred it all. The short fleeing, computer generated euphoria has a cheerful optimism in it. The soundscapes in “.rebirth” is very inventive, colorfully orchestrated and darkly spirited. Something you can’t really experience in another song or through another artist.

There’s also the psychedelic aspect of “.rebirth.” The track has you floating in a computer-generated outer space, where a certain glitch and surreality can be expected, but so does the broadness and mystical beauty of the universe. The backdrop is layered in a robotic, deteriorating mess. The fall and catch of the beats is repeated in an unnatural, eerie manner that resembles the machines.

Even though “.rebirth” takes place in a futuristic, unfamiliar setting, the track is deep rooted in humanly relatable emotions. A naked vulnerability is being sung and expressed throughout the song, evoking an immediate feeling of being exposed. So raw and evocative, almost like a robot being sliced open, with all the lines and boards inside the shinny shell on display.
