Sugar Nova Releases “Send Me Higher (Chalk Dinosaur Remix)”

Denver, CO - Sugar Nova, the Denver-based duo made up of Luke Miller (from the band Lotus) and Rachel Eisenstat (from Raven Jane) released a remix of their single “Send Me Higher” by Chalk Dinosaur. John O’Hallaron is the driving force behind Chalk Dinosaur from Pittsburgh, PA. Moving effortlessly between jamband, rock, indie-pop and electronic production, Chalk Dinosaur has built up a massive catalogue of studio material and honed recording chops.

Chalk Dinosaur’s remix uses bright guitar stabs and synth bass to put a lemon-squeeze of freshness on the track. O’Hallaron re-contextualizes the chorus in multiple different ways, upping the summer vibes before the track turns darker as the musical sun sets. This remix makes you want to strap on a pair of roller skates and hit the hot pavement with disco moves firing.

“Send Me Higher” was the lead single from Sugar Nova’s debut album Halogen that was released in May.

“Chalk Dinosaur’s explorations into electro-funk and nu-disco made me think that he could produce a really cool take on this track. His mixes are always super tight, and this one delivers.” - Luke Miller (Sugar Nova)

"For this remix, I latched onto the chorus vocal and started there. The vocals and lyrics drew me to pursue a euphoric sound, and that's what I tried to capture. I made a loop of the isolated vocal and started experimenting with different chord progressions. Once I found the one I liked, I reinforced it with some funky guitar trying to channel Nile Rodgers. In the second half of the song, I wanted to explore a minor sound. Not sad or mad, but more mysterious. It was really fun working with this song. Thanks to Sugar Nova for inviting me to do the remix, and I hope you all enjoy the music!" - John O’Hallaron (Chalk Dinosaur)
