Sutras On the Making Of ‘The Crisis of Existence’
What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of 'The Crisis of Existence?'
Tristsn: The spark is really a necessary need to work through things in life. So the idea of the record and the title of it - is a bit on the nose.
2. Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for this album?
Tristan: For me, what stood out of the most was our ability to crank out the songs without much time to dedicate to them due to family, work and life. It turned out very clear and concise which I'm impressed by. We knew what we wanted and were able to express it without too much experimenting.
Which song(s) from the album do you think best represent your artistic vision?
Tristan: That's tough cause I think they all have things I want to expand on more - but my immediate thought is “Karma To Burn” because I feel it's the most natural, has the most impact and meaning for me.
Can you tell us more about you as a duo?
Tristan: The most I can say is I'm very grateful for Frederick. His music skills are insane and his ethos regarding the project is perfect. I just wish we had known each other 20 years ago. But here we are now.
Do you aim to convey any specific themes or messages through your music?
Tristan: Radical compassion and how hard that actually is.
