Princess Liv Releases “On The Line”
Princess Liv leads a double life as an artist and a touring musician for major pop and rock acts - until the experience of life on the road starts to show itself through her songwriting. With new single “On The Line,” out April 1st, she speaks on the desire to follow dead ends with old friends and flames, an aimless pursuit rooted in loneliness albeit paved with good intentions. Her second release of the year features bass from the Grammy-winning Victor Broden, keys from touring keyboardist Cole Riddle, was co- produced by Connor Small (Quiet Son), mixed by Trey Station (Larrabee Studios) and mastered by Justin Shturtz (Sterling Sound). She recently debuted the song live with her all-female band at the Resident DTLA in an event produced by the Luna Collective, and is set to perform it live along with her next few singles at various shows in the LA and San Francisco areas throughout the coming months.
“On the Line” is an ode to 80s synth pop, slow-simmering grooves, simple lyric hooks, and most importantly, the “fade out guy.” As producers, PL and Connor allow the bass and synths to get creative in texture and taste towards the end of the song while maintaining simplicity vocally and through its basic melodies, and Broden and Riddle do the fade-out jam justice in return. It’s easy and evocative of a sunset drive down the beach, with sparkling synths and singable melodies.
As a solo artist born in Manhattan, NY and currently residing in Los Angeles, Princess Liv is a city girl at heart. The songs she writes and the way she sings them are steeped in the jazz tradition that she picked up sneaking into jazz clubs in Manhattan with her not at all fake ID in high school. Many of her lyrics reflect her experiences on tour, and she has managed to build a loyal following online through her presence on the scene as a writer and musician. Performing with a four to six-piece live all-female band (sometimes joined by a horn section), Liv has toured her own project throughout the US, and her releases have been featured in publications such as EUPHORIA mag, R&B Nation, Comme Des Garçons and Spotify’s Fresh Finds.
