OKINAWA PLANE CRASH Releases ‘WIZARDS OF THE WEST SIDE’
OKINAWA PLANE CRASH is a 4 piece DIY punk band with heavy nu metal and garage rock influences. On January 4th, 2025, they released their 3rd self-funded album, ‘WIZARDS OF THE WEST SIDE.’ The first track, “MACHETE” (seen as “BILLIE EILISH MACHETE” on physical CD’s), takes the listener to an alternate reality in which Billie Eilish has had enough of fame. Run as she wields a machete, and dance to the instrumental break as she chases you through the woods!! There’s never been a slasher thriller this fun...
‘WIZARDS OF THE WEST SIDE’ is our newest album and definitely our best by far. Recorded live last June, we keep our music as authentic and close to our live shows as possible. Our main goal with our music is to create something that's fun and danceable, while still being rough and tumble. By leaning into dadaism's approach of using nonsense as a counter to the general sociopolitical climate of today, we take ourselves less seriously than most bands dare to accomplish that mission. Of course, as musicians, we do have a couple of tracks ("HEAT DEATH" and "MASSACRE ON WALL STREET") that have recently become very topical and are social commentaries. For the most part, though, you can listen to the album and get lost in the hijinks and tomfoolery we do- whether it's the music or the lyrics! Between all of us, we have a wide array of influences, including Pentagram, System of a Down, Nas, King Diamond, Randy Rhoads, Primus, Machine Girl, Slayer, early Metallica, and Living Colour. By drawing from all of these in different ways, we hope to create a sound that isn't what you'd hear just anywhere, but only on an OKINAWA PLANE CRASH.
