Mark Vennis & Different Place On the Making Of “WILD SUBURBAN BOY”
What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of "WILD SUBURBAN BOY?"
IT'S ABOUT GROWING UP IN THE SUBURBS - THINKING THAT YOU KNOW EVERYTHING WHEN YOU REALLY DON'T AND HOW ROCK N ROLL, IN PARTICULAR PUNK ROCK, BECAME AN IMPORTANT OUTLET FOR STIFLED CREATIVITY.
Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for this single?
ITS ALL A BIT OF BLUR...
What did you enjoy most about making "WILD SUBURBAN BOY?"
PLAYING THE GUITAR SOLO LOADS OF TIMES.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?
I'VE BEEN PLAYING IN INDIE AND PUNK BANDS SINCE I WAS A TEENAGER. MUSIC IS CENTRAL TO MY LIFE. WHEN I WAS YOUNG IT PROVIDED AN ESCAPE, A DIFFERENT WORLD OF CREATIVITY, A PLACE WHERE YOU COULD EXPRESS YOURSELF. THE PUNK ROCK BANDS PROVIDED THE FUSE, IN PARTICULAR THE MANY TYPES OF MUSIC BANDS LIKE THE CLASH PLAYED. ALL HUMAN LIFE IS HERE - ANGER, SADNESS, POLITICS, FRUSTRATION, LOVE AND ON AND ON.
What role do you feel emotions play in your music, and how do you channel them into your performances?
EMOTIONS ARE CENTRAL TO ANY GOOD MUSIC! WHETHER THE SONG IS ANGRY OR SAD, MUSIC IS A DIRECT CONNECTION TO YOUR HEART. I HOPE THAT MY MUSIC AND LYRICS WILL MAKE PEOPLE FEEL SOMETHING, QUESTION HOW THINGS ARE, DO SOMETHING PRO-CREATIVE AND PROACTIVE. THERE IS SO MUCH GOING BADLY WRONG IN THE WORLD, SO MANY PEOPLE SUFFERING, SO MANY PEOPLE GOING THROUGH BAD TIMES THAT I HOPE MY MUSIC HELPS IN SOME SMALL WAY.
