Hot Air On the Making Of “Living arrangements”
What inspired you to write the lyrics/music for "Living arrangements?"
It was written back in 2015 and I can’t remember what I did last weekend soo... I definitely wanted to write a certain style of song and try to edge my sound away from being so guitar led. Lyrically, I recall being inspired by a couple of people around me at the time and I pinched some of the things that they had said. They ain't getting no writing credit off me!
How did you work with the producer or engineers to bring your vision for this single to life?
Yeah, Andy Schichter of Park Sound Studio was the producer and was the man of the hour on this for sure. I had lots of cool ideas going in but it got to a point where I was stuck and the demo was really lacking. Andy put the main bass line down and stopped the whole thing from going in the bin.
What do you like the best about "Living arrangements?"
Well, the whole demo was re-recorded in a few different studios so we could bring out a more polished version of the track, yet that didn’t work for it. So that's what I like about it, I like that the demo became the finished song.
Was there a pivotal moment in your life when you decided to follow your path as a musician?
Yeah early 2015 I had just moved to Vancouver and I went from having a busy work and social life to setting myself up in a new country. All of a sudden there’s loads of free time, alone time and so that’s when I started getting back into music.
Are there any upcoming projects or releases that you're particularly excited about?
Yeah, it’s cool to finally be at a point where you’re finished writing and you’re happy with the bag of songs you have in the vault.
This release is the lead track off a two-part EP, which will be slowly put out over the course of the year ahead.
