HELN On the Making Of “You Caught My Eye”

What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of “You Caught My Eye?”
It actually started in the most unexpected way—I was randomly singing, “you caught my eye, oh you caught my eye” to my husband, just messing around. But the melody stuck with me. It kept looping in my head for about a week until I realized… maybe there’s a song here. So I sat down and wrote something sweet about that magical time when we first started dating.
How did you work with the producer or engineers to bring your vision for this song to life?
Working with my producer, Dr. Ford, was such a joy. I gave him a rough sketch—just vocals and piano—and he completely elevated it with this beautiful orchestral arrangement. He was so encouraging and genuinely excited about the song, and that energy was contagious. It made me even more excited to bring it to life.
What impact do you hope this song will have on your audience?
I hope it sweeps people into that dreamy, heart-fluttering feeling of first falling for someone. That moment when everything feels like a whirlwind, and you’re just completely captivated by a new connection. I wanted to bottle that feeling into a song.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?
Music has always been a part of my life. I started playing the violin when I was ten, which opened up this whole world of composing and creativity. Later, I found my voice singing with small church bands. From there, things just kept unfolding, and I realized creating music was something I wanted to keep chasing.
How do you continuously grow and evolve as an artist?
I’m always looking for songs that challenge me vocally—pushing my range, my control, or just my confidence. I work with an amazing vocal coach who’s constantly helping me grow. Right now, I’m also diving into an online songwriting course to deepen my understanding of composition and storytelling. There’s always more to learn, and that’s the exciting part.
