Dirty Slippers On the Making Of “The best”

What was the creative process like for this particular song?

Amazing! We started working on the original Hungarian version of this song during the lockdown. After three years, we recorded the English version with our superb producer, George Shilling, at Abbey Road Studios. George contributed some creative and fresh ideas as a producer, which we incorporated, and the song turned out to be exactly what I had envisioned in my head when I wrote it.

How did you work with the producer or engineers to bring your vision for "The best" to life?

We are close friends with George, so he knows exactly what I imagine as a songwriter-frontman. I believe in songs, which have got power and evolving dynamics. We always try new ideas when we are working on arrangements. I think we have known each other very well since 2009, thatishwy the workdays in the studios are always inspiring hours and happy moments with unforgettable memories.

What was your favorite moment in making the music video?

Our main actress was the wonderful Anna Mészöly, who worked with Adrian Brody in the Oscar-nominated movie called The Brutalist. She is a professional woman, who works hard on every moment of the video shooting with no coffee breaks. There was a really good scene, when She collapsed by the wall, and you could feel that she was completely immersed in her role, truly embodying the broken-hearted woman that this song is about.

What has been one of the most significant moments of your musical journey so far?

I am really grateful to God because we are truly living our dreams. We had a multi-award-winning "School tour" anti-drug prevention program for high schools, and we performed in 12 countries across Europe. We worked at Abbey Road Studios, recorded in studios in the USA, and played in legendary clubs from Hamburg to Newcastle, among many others.

The last heartwarming moment of my life was in England when we played in Whitchurch, a lovely small town. After our show, some tough-looking guys approached me and said they really loved our music and bought a lot of merchandise, including our new tour t-shirt. I think our fans are mostly girls, so that conversation with these tough-looking guys was unforgettable for me.

Can you share a standout moment from one of your live performances that you'll never forget?

There were a lot! We are a band who started in a small town called Gyula. All of our concerts at big festivals and especially abroad are really important to us. When I was a kid, I always dreamed about international tours and concerts and wanted to feel that real tour vibe, when you travelled from city to city, from country to country, and met with new people every night. I really like people and I like to chat with them after our gigs. I love to feel the audience as a community. I’m very approachable, and I like my fans to know that I’m just the guy-next-door from the suburbs, not some distant figure who shuts himself off from conversations after the concerts.
