Feature: proFESSional Decodes “Television”

How did you come up with the idea?

The riff was the first thing I wrote. I kept playing it on repeat for ages and then all of a sudden I shouted TELEVISION! I thought wow that's a cool hook, I sat on it for a while, at least 20min, thinking what angle to take on it. At the time was reading Tropic of Cancer by Henry Millers and in there was mention of an electric chair execution and I thought that was really cool image. Considering the TVs are electric and they fry your mind.  The rest was "easy"  so to say, once I had the melody for the verse. My favorite line is "Turtle soup and dodo's great" emphasizing human appetite for destruction.

What impact do you hope "Television" will have on your audience?

I don't think there's anything groundbreakingly novel about the idea that television is bad for you but there is a message in there that connects us all, the consumers. By structuring the verses around "him," "us," and "me,"  the track emphasizes how individual and communal impacts interconnect. This connection hopefully highlights the idea that we all bear the weight of what we create and consume, hopefully capturing a sense of unity. David Attenborough mentioned is not only there to create counter to all the seaming negativity in the song but it's there also as an example that we can do things differently.

What was your favorite moment in making the music video?

Definitely has to be throwing the TV out the window, we love Rock and roll and what's more rock and roll than that? Also, Dylan's camio is great. He plays the killer in the Pizza for breakfast video and we all love the idea that the girls almost miss him and he narrowly gets away.

Can you tell us more about you as a band?

We are just a bunch of rock and roll enthusiasts who love the sound and the theatrics of it all and we just wanna have fun and hopefully deliver something meaningful that will make people feel good about.  "..so put another dime in the jukebox baby!!!!"

What’s the most meaningful fan interaction or feedback you’ve received, and why did it resonate with you?

Our first troll post was quite funny actually gotta give him that. He made a funny clip about how all our fans can fit in this little bus, it made us all laugh and we chatted with him and now he's a fan. I think he always was, he just had a funny way of reaching out, communication can be very twisted sometimes
