Feature: Mark Masguro Decodes “Summer Night's Dream”
How does "Summer Night's Dream" reflect your musical journey and growth as an artist?
I think I'm an old romantic. Being in love is always beautiful. New love is like making a new track. The heartbreak and passion are wonderful. I pick out the positives and build on that foundation. That's just life.
What impact do you hope this song will have on your audience or the music industry?
Oh, that's an interesting question. I hope no one comes knocking on my door. I think music finds its way and its listeners. The beautiful thing about music is that it's like a work of art, and it stays there. It just has to be discovered.
What did you enjoy most about making this track?
The entire production process... the energy flowed. No persistent head-scratching. Beatman conjured up a magnificent melody right away. The workflow was perfect.
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I was involved in the entire electronic music movement. Rap, hip-hop, hip-house, rave, and acid. There was a lot going on in the early '90s. I wanted to be a DJ and play. Unfortunately, back then, having a connection was more useful than being able to.
Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?
Life is my inspiration. A bad day affects your production. All the emotions are reflected in my tracks. I don't copy anything... My feelings are in the music.
