What was the creative process like for this particular "Polymer?"

Geoff Harman ( Fake Figures guitarist ): The Creative process was interesting to say the least. We had just come out of releasing ‘We are the Dead’ when the world locked down due to the pandemic so we hardly got to promote that release. But with all of the free time, I think it gave us the urge to be like, ‘ok lets take some time and work on new material’. So Travis just started working out riffs seeing what worked and came up with these Demo tracks that were really outstanding. “Polymer” I think was the 2nd or maybe 3rd track he shared with us and when it hit the chorus it just really stood out to me personally as a lightbulb moment that this is so something different and really something that could lend to some really cool vocals.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for this single?

Honestly just hearing it for the first time all put together with vocals and harmonies and stuff like that. It just came out so good. One funny thing though was the guitar solo – the demo track had a completely different solo and Travis didn’t like much so he wanted to come up with a new one. So we sat there, all night going over and over this solo to the point that the finished product literally has 3 different guitar players playing a part... yeah, that was definitely a standout moment.

What impact do you hope "Polymer" will have on your audience?

I mean, I just hope they have been enjoying the song ya know? It’s definitely a different sound overall from some of our older stuff but I don’t think it’s necessarily a complete departure either. With Steve’s (Ludwig) vocals - it does change the overall sound but like musically I think now it also opens up our range on how we write songs and what we can write so it’s like being a new band but not.

Can you share a standout moment from one of your live performances that you'll never forget?

Oh definitely! Before the pandemic we had the chance to play a couple of shows with Jonah Matranga of FAR and onelinedrawing and not only did we play as Fake Figures, but we also got to basically be ‘FAR’ for the night, or ‘Gratitude’ because we got to play with Jonah some of those songs so that was really cool.

Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?

Honestly it’s just really whatever/however I’m feeling at that moment. This EP is called ‘From Within’ for that reason, all art/music is just a form of self expression and that can’t come from anywhere but from within. Musically, our tastes and influences are so all over the place that I think we just try to write what we would want to hear and make that whatever it’s going to be and I think that shows on the EP. Like everything fits together nicely but I feel like you can hear some of where our ideas come from.
