Feature: Eckman & Borelius Decodes ‘Picking Up The Pieces’

Can you talk about any specific themes or motifs that run throughout 'Picking Up The Pieces?'

I'd say that there is a strong theme throughout the records and it's "there is always hope". Things can feel sad and hopeless but things will get better. The songs are about life, relations and the future.

What has been one of your most favorite memories along the path to making 'Picking Up The Pieces?'

Well, that would be the first songwriting session we had in December 2022 when we decided to give the duo a try. The second best was when all the songs were recorded. :-)

How does this album fit into your overall artistic vision?

This is me, Tobias answering. I'm also in a couple of other bands - one indie pop and one indie/power pop band. The songwriting process has been very developing and I have learned a lot. It's also a bit scary when your vocals come without overdubs. It's like - this is it, take it or leave it.

Our vision has been just that. We do piano-based ballads with a soundscape atmosphere. You won't get the expected pop-sound.

What has been one of the most significant moments of your musical journey so far?

We are still at the beginning of our careers. Not many people have heard of us so far. So the most significant moment is still to come. We have a couple of shows coming up and were so much looking forward to playing our songs to the public.

What advice would you give to aspiring singer-songwriters who are looking to develop their craft and share their music?

The easy answer is to follow your heart. And you should. But having said that you should also sit down and decide your musical path and try to stay on that. It's also important to work continuously. Decide when and what to work with and you will get things done.
