DÜSDWNTHESTREET On the Making Of “BIPOLAR”

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind "BIPOLAR" and the story it tells?

It’s really been about this past year or so of my life feeling Im still trying to find who I am. I feel I am still figuring out who I am as an artist and sometimes that tears me between two worlds.

How did you work with the producer or engineers to bring your vision for this song to life?

The song honestly was on a completely different beat at first and was set to release but I had some issues with the distributor that delayed it. During that time I was just listening to some beats on YouTube and came across the current instrumental and it just fit better with the vision I had for this upcoming project. So I connected with the producer (D-iligence) on Instagram to get it released. Basically this whole single got reinvented during the week leading up to the release and the version you hear is what came out of all of that.

How does "BIPOLAR" fit into your overall artistic vision and what can listeners expect from you in the future?

Listeners can expect a lot more songs that are sample based sound wise. “Bipolar” is just one of many songs on my upcoming project “An Injured Generation” that touches this sample based sound. I really want to return to sampling as I believe it is a lost art nowadays and isn’t given the care and attention it deserves when executed by a lot of producers today.

Can you tell us more about you as an artist?

I’m a multifaceted artist. I write all of my music and also produce most of the records I release. I do rely on other producers when working on larger projects though just because that can be a lot to handle alone. Overall I just really enjoy what I do, making music has been something I’ve loved doing for years even before releasing anything publicly.

Can you walk us through your creative process when writing and composing music?

A lot of my songs start with lines I come up with and leave sitting in my voice memos app on my phone. From there I usually produce around the voice memo to get a general idea of where I want the song to go. I love this process because it’s very messy and unpredictable and I usually end up with an end product that is totally different from what I imagined at first. It feels better for me that way because I feel my original ideas are quite boring so this fuels my confidence to keep creating.
