B-MACK Releases “GET LIKES”

New York City, September 10, 2024 / ROA Records - the indie label of alternative funk-rock band B-MACK announces the release of “Get Likes” another collaboration by band members Michael R. Cox & Bruce Mack. This single “Get Likes” is a reminder to world citizens of the power at hand with phone cameras, which extends beyond gaining popularity via social media.

About the New Single, “Get Likes”

Bundled with a video, “Get Likes” is an R&B track written and produced by guitarist/bassist Michael R. Cox and lead singer Bruce Mack that hearkens back to the psychedelic soul of late 60’s/early 70’s that grooved with social awareness. Bruce Mack’s inspiration for lyrics in “Get Likes” is that not enough of us use our cameras to make changes for better communities, we mostly post to get attention. The song encourages us all to be better global citizens, do more than “Get Likes”.

The track features warping keyboards, soft-fuzz guitar lines, a driving bassline, and lead vocal all conjuring a mashup of (The Left Rev. McD) Eugene McDaniels meets The Isley Bros.

What Has Been Happening

The 1st half of this summer was consumed by Bruce Mack’s work with Mario Van Peebles’ Tribute to his father the late filmaker, playright and songwriter Melvin Van Peebles. Performed August 9th&10th, each to full house capacity at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Mack was featured with Burnt Sugar the Arkestra Chamber as an actor, vocalist and music arranger, performing two leads from MVP’s cannon, “Catch That On The Corner” and “Lilly Done the Zampoughi Everytime I Pulled Her Coattail” as well as supporting roles. Two more shows followed, one being at SONY Hall, NYC where Mack performed a rousing version of The Chambers Brother’s “Time Has Come Today” with Vernon Reid conducting. Preparation for these events forced B-MACK to put production of the album on hold until now, as production resumes. Aside from “Get Likes” there will be free downloads of unreleased songs and jams to subscribers at Bandcamp leading up to the album release.
