Junkyard Romantics “Mona Lisa”

Mona Lisa, the muse of Leonardo da Vinci becomes the muse that inspired the debut release from Junkyard Romantics. Mysterious, earthy, obscure but emotionally hard-hitting, everything that contributes to the world’s obsession with Mona Lisa also applies to London-based rock quartet’s “Mona Lisa.”

In a psychedelic-infused sonic palette, the washed-out, mood-filled guitar riffs put listeners in an sensuous, expansive landscape. Atmospheric and eclectic, as if the track exists in two different places at once, “Mona Lisa” evokes an non-linear listening experience and so it’s its storytelling. Thoughts revolve around the person in the painting, but the mind also drifts off to other aspects in life.

Junkyard Romantics’ lyrics are broad enough to be obscure, but clear enough to hit you hard emotionally. They are essentially authentic and intuitive. They take you to places that are unexpected, evoking feelings that beyond the surface level. “Mona Lisa” is rich in feels, while the track keeps on elevating and expanding, sonically and atmospherically.

Both the drums and the guitars seem to adhere to their highly intuitive, authentic songwriting. The track gives each person enough space to bring a variety of ideas on board, tackling different feelings, being inspired by others. The organic feel of “Mona Lisa” can’t be ignored.
