5 Q&A With Rick Lee Vinson Group

What was the creative process like for this particular song?

This song's idea started with me going for some real standard country music themes, such as beer, my truck, horse riding etc. But the riff was inspired by the late great Gary Moore of Thin Lizzie where I melded a blues riff into a country song that then morphs into an Eagles type harmony of the chorus. This song is a true hybrid in that it incorporates blues, country music themes and big harmonic chorus's seamlessly into one song.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for this track?

We produce, record and master all of Rick Lee Vinson Groups music in Nashville TN, where our band members are from and give our music an authentic modern country sound.

What do you like the best about "The Ballad of Stuff That Never Broke My Heart?"

This song is a band favorite as it begins the Rick Lee Vinson Groups evolution from modern country to the melding of many styles incorporated into country style music, that has no boundaries on what can and cannot be used in the construction of our music.

Can you tell us more about you as a band?

We have four core members, and utilize outside studio players depending on the instrumentation of the song. We live in different parts of the country, so we do a lot of FaceTime communications.

Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?

My inspiration usually comes at 3:00 am as apparently the creator doesn't believe I need much sleep. I have some new songs in production that are very different particularly where subject matter is concerned.
