5 Q&A With Il Mangiapersone
What was the creative process like for this particular single?
In this specific song, the first single of our album, everything comes from the Riff and the resulting guitar sound, a distorted, deaf and stupid sound that goes well with a text that talks about distorted, deaf and stupid people.
What impact do you hope "Gesù (ahimè) non ti ama più" will have on your audience or the music industry?
We are not interested in the music industry, we just want to make music and produce as much art as possible for those people who are listening to us can say: I don't feel alone anymore.
What did you enjoy most about making this track?
During the second verse, the text says: "give your trust to those who wave a rosary saying to follow the sacred heart of Mary" which is a clear reference to a minister of the current Italian government who kissed the rosary during the elections to attract the votes of Catholics.
Can you tell us more about you as a band?
The name of the band: "Il Mangiapersone" literally means in Italian "the people eater" because most of our songs talk about disgusting people to be devoured (intolerant religious people, narcissistic politicians, FB commentators...) while others talk about civil rights (Trans/formation for example), in fact while I answer these questions the American punk band we come closest to (in the lyrics) are Defiance, Ohio.
How do you continuously grow and evolve as a band?
We don't want to evolve, rather the opposite: to devolve in the sense that we are artistically looking for the perfect punk song: the one that says it all, makes you angry, moves you, dances using the right words and the right feeling and nothing else.
