‘Secret Invasion’ Director Confirms How Long Rhodey Has Been a Skrull

Secret Invasion dives deep into the alien conspiracy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and invites viewers to ask the question: who can you really trust. One of the show’s biggest revelation being that James Rhodes, aka Rhodey/War Machine, has long been replaced by a Skrull. Since the relegation, fans have been going back and forth to pinpoint the exact time of his abduction. Many suspect that Rhodey has been a Skrull since Civil War. The good news, we now have a confirmation on that.

Secret Invasion director Ali Selim recently confirmed when Rhodey was replaced by an alien. In the show, Rhodes was seen wearing hospital gown when rescued and revealed that he has been held captive “for a long time.” And this exact detail could only be traced to particular injury—When asked if this detail was a hint that Rhodes has been kidnapped after his spinal injury in Civil War, the director confirmed with a solid “Yep.”

Interestingly, this revelation isn’t a recent development. Marvel Studio boss Kevin Feige has hinted in the past that they have been planning this surprise for a long time. In an interview with Marvel.com, Feige said, “[We want the audiences to] understand exactly how long he’s been a Skrull. We like the idea of fans going back and watching some of the other appearances of Rhodes and realising that that wasn’t him.”
