PolSky On The Making of ‘Executive Functions’

What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of 'Executive Functions?'

A protracted existential crisis! In the personal sense and also watching the world lose its marbles, certainly in the UK over the last decade with the effects of austerity, I suppose artists have felt this in a particular way and I wanted to reflect all this back through the songs.

Can you share any interesting or unique musical elements or production techniques used in 'Executive Functions?'

The chorus of “Switchboard Operator” was inspired by the sales cry of the “Evening Standard” newspaper vendor at the London Bridge train station!

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for this album?

Many! From the saw playing on Nimbus Cumulus to the Gregorian choir on our yet unreleased album bonus track …”Product E.” It has been a wonderful hotchpotch of musicality …

What impact do you hope this album will have on your audience or the music industry?

Hopefully to make a statement that guitar music can still be inventive, vital, varied and powerful !

What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced as a band, and how did you overcome them?

That one’s easy - the pandemic… it looked like it was goodnight, sweetheart, for matters PolSky, with tremendous will and support from our label Disruptive Element… we are fighting fit and back in the game!
