divine&acajou “You got me here” - Review

divine&acajou brings a vivid, illuminating blend of indie pop, jazz, and African rhythm with a speck of electronic in the atmosphere that seems to paint the perfect mood. Folk-infused guitar riff spreads out in warmth. The recurring melodies guide you into a highly connected state of awareness. Jazzy bass has never been so alive. It bounces around the rhythms and becomes its own highlights, bringing euphoric, spirited energy into the track.

Floral and urban, that’s the first scene “You got me here” introduces. The cinematic track is stimulating and ever-changing. It hardly stays in one place. Horizontally and vertically, it keeps on growing and expanding.

It’s quite amazing how much divine&acajou is able to achieve with her sole vocal. In this track, her vocals bounce between the walls, traveling across the empty field with so much freedom. Her voice is light as a feather at times, or warm and bright as a ray of sunshine. She brings you closer to the impression of angles with her celestial, transparent tone. Her playfulness and childlike spirit at times, remind you of a fairy that only exists in tales.

divine&acajou is undoubtedly a versatile vocalist and songwriter with so much potential. The soundscapes that she painted with her voice in “You got me here” feel like something that comes from the divine, but she also evokes those powerful moments of a strong calling that makes the world vibrate along with her, like channeling an entire bloodline, history, and lineage. She’s able to tap into those mystical forces between spaces and realities.

There’s a crude, vulnerable side to the masterfully orchestrated and produced track. The sonic landscapes in there are textural and experimental, but the visuals they evoke seem to be palpable.
