Will Reily On the Making Of “Just for a Moment”

What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of "Just for a Moment?"

There was no specific memory/moment that the song is about, but more so it’s about the feeling of finding the person/people that can lift your spirits in life, especially when depression/anxiety is creeping up. With a lot of grim things happening in the world, it’s important to have people you love and trust that can pull you out of the void.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for this single?

I wrote and recorded the song in my bedroom, so even though the song is about going out, living life, etc., I actually had a lot of time to reflect and get personal with all aspects of the song writing process.

What do you like the best about this track?

I think that no matter what corner of the world you are in, it can be relatable. Everyone has their own set of responsibilities, expectations, etc, and when you “let loose” with your friends and/or romantic partner, it can take your mind off of the stressful parts of life.

Was there a pivotal moment in your life when you decided to follow your path as a musician?

I’m a self taught musician, and around 10-11 is when I started doing music constantly. There have been many moments when I knew this was what I wanted to do. I get really motivated by listening to other musicians do what they do, and do it well. It drives me to want to do the same.

What role do you feel emotions play in your music, and how do you channel them into your performances?

I think they’re the most important element. While not always easy, letting yourself be vulnerable in lyrics is the easiest way for fans to connect with an artist, and for the artist to find themselves. I have yet to really play anything Live, but when I do, it’s important to bring the same authenticity on stage. It elevates the song and the performance and hopefully makes lifetime memories for both the performer and audience.
