Trummerkind On the Making Of “Killing Stalking”

What was the creative process like for this particular "Killing Stalking?"

The song “Killing Stalking” was inspired by the Horror Manhwa Killing Stalking series, for the song I thought it would be more interesting to write from the perspective of the killer rather than the victim, to give the track a more sinister feel. The song starts with the sounds of sirens to create a feeling of urgency and foreboding. Whilst creating the backing track I chose to give it a slower tempo to give the illusion that the killer is slowly moving towards the victim. Then the drums were added with a repetative booming rhythm to simulate a heartbeat, further adding to the suspense of the track. We layed the guitar to create a dramatic sound almost like violin to give a vampiric sound and reflect the eccentricity of the story.

What do you like the best about "Killing Stalking?"

I really like the sound of the guitar, it has a spooky theatrical sound that could be in a horror movie, I feel we did a good job of retelling the original story in a music format with a dark sinister twist, as you listen it feels like you're the victim trying desperately to escape.

How does "Killing Stalking" fit into your overall artistic vision?

All our most recent songs have a theatrical soundtrack style, we like to create a dark undertone inside the song with layers of sounds and want each track to engulf the listener. We feel this is what gives Trummerkind its unique sound.

Can you tell us more about you as a band?

Trummerkind was originally formed in 2022 as a visual art piece, after the positive response we had from our first live performance we decided to continue as an official band, releasing our first single "Revolt" in August 2022. Since then we have evolved and refined our sound which is reflective in our most recent release "Beauty Queen", The band consists of Rowen Silvester vocals, bass, keyboard & backing tracks, Oli Sturdy guitar, production, keyboard and Robert Silvester vocals and precussion.

How do you continuously grow and evolve as a band?

We take a lot of external influences from music we are currently interested in and the styles we naturally gravitate to. We have been adding more layers to our songs including more piano and strings to elevate the track and give it a more powerful sound. We work well as a trio and with the creative inputs from the three of us we create a unique eclectic sound, it’s important to all work together with no egos, it’s all about the creative process and producing good music. Something we all feel strongly about and the ethos behind Trummerkind.
