Sūn Byrd On the Making Of “Hey Love”

What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of "Hey Love?"

The idea came from the way Stevie Wonder used layers of clavinet parts on top of each other. We wanted to make something truly funky, and thought that Stevie was a good place to start.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for this song?

I think maybe the trumpet solo was a standout moment for us. As well as bass recording. Everyone was really tuned in.

Can you describe the emotions or feelings you hope this single evokes in listeners?

We hope the listeners feel happy and cool. Like they own the world for a couple of minutes.

How did your band members initially come together?

We all met during music studies in Oslo, Norway.

What do you enjoy most about performing live and connecting with your audience?

It's when we get to play live, that our music shows its true potential. We've played over 200 shows together, and just love to create an atmosphere where it feels like you're a part of something unique.
