Scary Luke On the Making Of “Kiss Me Through The Fangz”
Can you share any interesting or unique musical elements or production techniques used in "Kiss Me Through The Fangz?"
I recorded my vocal part in my en-suite toilet with my phone. It's a Sony Xperia Pro-I. Nothing too fancy just pitched up a bit. Red wine was also used, responsibly.
Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for "Kiss Me Through The Fangz?"
Definitely making the transition, I got super excited at that point. Love that feeling where it's like damn I can't wait for my friends to hear this bit. I got up and spun around in a circle for a bit.
Can you describe the emotions or feelings you hope this single evokes in listeners?
Feelings of internal exuberance, pure excitement. That feeling of swimming in big energy and being submerged by activity. Hopefully, they feel ready to take on anything. It's a let's get this going type of song.
Can you share a bit about your musical background and the journey that led you to where you are today?
I played a lot of classical instruments when I was young. My favourite was the violin, can't remember which grade I stopped on but it was pretty high up lol. I was in an alternative grime crew in my teens and an alternative rap band with Mo Slicks. Left making music for years but lockdown reconnected back to the creative process. I was recording into my phone at that point, but my friends were really into it so I kept going. I was just making it for myself and then but now I feel like I'm making it for the entire universe.
How do you approach creating something new and different?
I don't start with anything, not even a BPM. I just go and then smash together key elements of the different subgenres I'm into. Usually comes out pretty novel, touch wood. So the approach is based on freedom I guess.
