Ronnue On the Making Of ‘I'm a Lesbian all the mixes’

What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of ‘I'm a Lesbian All the Mixes?’

The initial idea came from a conversation I had with my homeboy. He said, "I am a Lesbian, I LOVE women," and I thought, "This could make for an interesting song!" As soon as I got off the phone, I started writing. The second part of the inspiration comes from my close friendships with many lesbians. I wanted to write from their perspective, tapping into their experiences and emotions.

Can you share any interesting or unique musical elements or production techniques used in this EP?

Roc Phizzle, the co-producer, is a musical genius, and we worked together to create something special. He played all the instruments live, which gives the project a raw, authentic feel that channels those classic '90s vibes. The way he stacked the keyboards brought a rich, layered sound, and I added my harmonies to build on that, aiming for that smooth, soulful vibe that reminds me of Jodeci.

Which track(s) do you like the best and why?

This is a tough question—it's like asking a parent which one of their kids they love the most! I love every track for different reasons. Each one holds a special place in my heart, whether it’s because of the lyrics, the vibe, or how it makes me feel when I hear it. Every song is a part of me, and they all represent something different.

Can you tell us more about you as an artist?

I’m deeply influenced by the music from the '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, and early 2000s. I take my craft very seriously, both in the studio and outside of it. I’m all about pushing boundaries, and I want to make my mark alongside the other greats—those iconic artists who have shaped the music world. I’m constantly evolving, but I keep that retro influence at the core of my sound.

How do you stay inspired and motivated to continue pushing boundaries in your art?

Inspiration is everywhere for me. When I wake up, the first thing on my mind is my art, and when I go to sleep, I dream about it. A conversation on the phone, a train ride, or even something as simple as the rain can spark a new idea or shift in my perspective. Everything in life can inspire me—it's all about staying open and paying attention to the little things that often go unnoticed.
