Robbie Rapids On the Making Of “Fishing The River”

What inspired you to write the lyrics/music for "Fishing The River?"

I wrote the intro hook on guitar one day in 2018 & the verses came pretty quick. I guess it just came to me. Was just going to be a basic song about fishing. Then the more I wrote the truth came out, lol. My lack of fishing skills and memories of my childhood spent fishing came out.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for "Fishing The River?"

This is the 3rd actual start from scratch recording of the song. This being a best of capturing all. The moments when I spot a good take stand out to me the most. There were 6 other musicians who contributed to this song, so I had great stuff to work with, I appreciate it all! Also this is the 1st song I've released that I completely recorded, mixed, and mastered myself.

What has been one of your most favorite memories along the path to making "Fishing The River?"

Playing the song live, initial reactions of people hearing it for the 1st time. Also making the music video was lots of fun.

What is your songwritinig process like? How do you usually start crafting a new song?

Rhythm guitar chords/riff and singing randomly to see what comes out. Pages of lyrics, then boiled down to best parts.

How do you channel your emotions and connect with your audience during live performances?

I connect with the audience between songs or before & after gig. I'm kinda in my own world during the song performance. Probably I should work on that!
