numeral “Marauder”
Following numeral’s debut EP titled under the same name, the recent remix collaboration with Bristol-based producer Brecon and Bern-based artist Philippe Adam, aka numeral, takes us back to the primordial Earth Age.
“Marauder” music video follows the journey of a red-eyed creature, breaking free from the cocoon to the new world. Spiraling between caves, underground rivers, and stones, the music video embraces an authentic black & white color palette.
The sonic journey in “Marauder” has two layers. The most obvious would be its downtempo, beat-driven basis that services as a constant. On top of that, ambient, crafted sonic designs are introduced subtly, creating a chilling, refreshing take that embraces spirituality and the profound, ancient connection of the earth in its early days.
Numeral creates a unique sonic experience that feels rejuvenizing and meditative. Inside its vibrant ambient, the track hardly stays the same, but it’s done in a deliberate manner so that listeners could fully focus on their experience, instead of being distracted by individual elements in the track.
However, the track itself never lacks fascinating details. There are sounds that resemble elements in nature, such as water, wind, and sand, but there are also aspects of human activity in terms of a sense of chaos, ritual, dance, and dynamics.
