Matyascorvinus “Tree of Life”
Matyascorvinus’ guitar work is full of strength. Every note on the lines of melodies feels special, personal, and full of emotions. “Tree of Life,” inspired by the tree symbol in multiple cultures, is an instrumental piece that aims to remind people of life and its meaning of it in the time of war.
The Finland-based composer Matyascorvinus shares a touching note along with the release, “Let this song be a recognition for ordinary people suffering from war and violence, forced to flee their homes...maybe never to return.”
Melodies move from the bass note on the thumb to the entire arpeggiated chords. Later to the 1st string, then moving back into the center. The idea of the tree of life, stretching towards the sky, thrusting its roots deep into the underworld while staying as the film, magnificent body of nature in the middle. Whether it was intentional or not, the symbolic nature of Matyascorvinus’s music is fascinating.
Matyascorvinus has a very unique way of adding exotic, fluttering semitone ornamentations into his playing through a variety of rumbling vibratos. Very tasteful in the details, the high notes on the 1st strings are fragile and more emotional, while the middle range leaves its echoes like the shadows that form a new light with the new.
