There is a lot of brilliance in Jess Porter’s “Patterns.” The virtuoso guitarist showcases complex guitar work on this track. Centering one’s internal struggle pushing through self-imposed walls, Jess Porter opens “Patterns” with an identical high-energy rhythm section, highlighting the emotional intensity.

The track takes you on an accelerating trip towards exhilaration. Jess Porter’s raw and expressive vocal directly contracts with the massive, storming rhythm guitars, giving the song a little distance and dreamfulness.

Interestingly, he adapted a minimalistic approach in the drum section as opposed to pushing the rushing energies and emotional roller coaster even further, which creates a very unique effect on the music.

The color brightens towards the end of “Patterns where a change of mood creates a lift of ecstasy that comes full circle. Jess Porter commented on the inspirations behind the track,

“‘Patterns’ is an exploration of the difficulty of altering our intimate pathways. As with many other queer people, I feel like I had delayed adolescence and therefore I took longer time to learn (or relearn) some unhelpful emotion patterns.”
