From the Italian word, “Insieme,” which means “together,” the new tune from pianist/composer dieg0 explores the feelings of sadness and happiness. Like the tangle of the yin and yang, the darker lower register in the left hand beautifully accompany and respond to the brighter and lighter upper register in the right hand.

At times they are intimate and inseparable, intensifying with waves of new emotions. And sometimes, one dominates the other. The intricate shift in mood and emotions in “Insieme” is so elegantly orchestrated. Towards the end of the tune, the sound of the ocean emerges from the background.

The song was written in a lonelier and darker time when dieg0 was going through a rough moment. “Insieme” is recorded at dieg0’s home studio in Ibiza. The cover art, featuring the grey sky and black sea, was taken on a boat trip from Ibiza to Valencia.

dieg0 left UK in 2015 and started his own project, dieg0. He used to write folk songs in sing-songwriter style, but his piano influences are from a range of classic and modern-day composers and pianists, including Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Ludovico Einaudi, Giovanni Allevi, Nils Frahm, and Yiruma.
