Review: Rover ‘Boring Utopia’

Boring Utopia is a fantastic, well executed album. Rover gives you the best hardcore, no bullshit punk rock. Their originality shines through this record and awes you at every turn and twist. Every single track is a mind-blowing banger and immersive sonic experience. Thinking about skip songs? Not a chance. They pull you in at first sound and are just simply too good at what they’re doing.

There’s plenty of revolution, plenty of rebellion, and plenty of conflict, chaos and commotion in Boring Utopia for every one. It’s dirty, gritty, and on your feet ground-shaking. Like machine guns, guitar riffs firing up noise-coiled vibrations around the house. The opening track “Boring Utopia” is pure fire. It fiercely seeks order through chaos in its sonic experience. The song takes you on a journey toward a collective cathartic moment you won’t be able to forget. “Boring Utopia” hits hard and true.

“Opresion” is a whole new vibe. Just when you thought you knew what they’re up to, Rover surprise you with a gritty, wicked banger that redefines disobedience. “126” is hotter and steamier. The exotic groove hits the punk genre in an unexpected way.

“Fix Me” delivers another banger, but unlike “Boring Utopia,” this track sees Rover stirring up establishment, breaking things down before putting them back together. “Rebel Ballad” hits a harder core Nirvana vibe before deriving into something on the floor and danceable. With haunting vocals, track pushes the album into a new direction.

“Channel Your Rage” opens with a group scream and dives right into its revolution-stirring verse. “Nothing Pleases Me,” the only ballad in the album, features a finger picking guitar with a violet color palette concludes the album in an unexpected way.

Rover exceeds your expectation at every turn. They are a massive force in rock music and truly rely on their own creativity and authenticity to win over hearts.
