Ren Harvieu Releases “Black Wig”

Anyone who believes there are no second chances needs to be re-introduced to Ren Harvieu. Seven years after her Top Five debut album, having overcome a life- threatening injury on the eve of it’s release, the Salford-born singer-songwriter returned with Revel In The Drama, a brilliant, bolder and broader take on her timeless pop classicism, a compelling diary of a struggle with self-belief, a release of pent-up tension and a celebration of liberation and survival. It should’ve been a celebration but as luck would have it, the world went into a global pandemic on the week of release. Timing is everything and this time she is starting all over yet again, can this third attempt be the charm that brings her the audience she deserves?

“Black Wig” is the first taste of her most compelling work to date. Written and produced with Romeo Stodart of the much loved Magic Numbers, her new single “Black Wig” is a decadent orchestral feast featuring marxophones, harpsichords and a musical saw all swept up in the allure of Ren’s caress. Finding humour within the despair is the Northern working class language that this proud Mancunian sings fluently. It is released on her very own record label Renette Records, ode to her ever loyal and growing fan base. Her new album is due later this year, chances are it will be timeless.
