PREMIERE: NIGHTINGALE “MIRRORS”
As the light dims, noises fade into the background. The introspective, wafting high strings light up in the dark, guiding us into a cinematic world of storytelling. Captivating, hypnotic piano evolves around Nightingale’s entrancing voice as we submerge into the spiraling contemplative mind space. Swelling synth/brass pushes the journey further and dives deeper into the enormous sonic waves, seeking for answers.
Nightingale is a solo project by the Melbourne-based producer, singer-songwriter Esmond Angeles, who aims to create meaningful soundtracks that resonate with individual and collective journeys.
Inspired by the artist’s own observations with thoughts process that led to the realization of identity, “Mirrors” unveils a transparent, pensive side of Nightingale. Through metaphorically driven lyricism and cinematic sonic texture, Nightingale shares an introspective experience that aims to inspire and connect.
In the ethereal, astonishing soundscape, “Mirrors” is an intensified journey in a moderate tempo with minimal percussion. The natural somber tone imprinted in “Mirrors” validates the disappointment, frustration, and deep longing for answers which resonate with anyone who shares a similar experience. From seeking outside approval to the examination of oneself, it dives deep into the discussion of identity and value.
