Nimby On the Making Of “Avatar”

What inspired you to write the lyrics/music for "Avatar?"

”Avatar” has been inspired by the new world in which we live in, the social media world that turns ourselves into kinds of Avatars, trying to replace our real identities.

The music came out instantly while Tommaso (the singer) was writing the lyrics. Then we developed the rest of the song and added that kind of disco/rock part at the end.

By the way, the song seemed to be ready before we ended it.

How does "Avatar" differ from your previous work?

We used a different tune, C tune, that we never used in the other records we did.
It sounds heavy and crunchy as we always liked.
We added a disco part because we want to involve the audience, we want to make them dance and shake their body. It’s a pretty good feeling when you see people dancing while you’re playing on the stage.

Have you noticed any particular interpretations or connections that listeners have made with "Avatar?"

We think that the meaning of the song is understood. There are no hidden meanings in it. Tommaso’s writing is clear, direct to the point and sometimes mildly argumentative.

What has been one of the most significant moments of your musical journey so far?

There’s not only one significant moment in our journey, but we surely know that the feelings we felt every time we put our feet in the studio are the purest and touching ever. So that’s what matters.

How do you continuously grow and evolve as a band?

The only thing that we’re going to do is rehearse and play live. We want to grow as musicians and as a band all together. The chemistry between us is so strong right now. We laugh, we cry and we argue every time we meet, but in the end we put all this energy on the stage having always the best time of our lives.
