New State Masses Releases “The Humming”

[BRIGHTON, Date] – Following the success of their debut single, indie rock band New State Masses are back with their second anthem, "The Humming," under the acclaimed label Agricultural Audio, helmed by producer Ben Hillier.

Written and produced by the duo Peter Harwood and Matthew Parisi, with additional recording and production by Ben Hillier, "The Humming" delves into the poignant battle with PTSD. The song's lyrics paint a vivid picture of constantly chasing the horizon instead of confronting and accepting one’s trauma. It conjures powerful imagery of striving to escape a past that should have felt like home, drawing on childhood memories of burning farmland and the intense feeling of being alive amidst danger. "The Humming" captures the moment of realization that trauma does not define one's future, but instead, there is a future worth pursuing.

Musically, "The Humming" takes a more synth-heavy approach compared to New State Masses' previous release, "The People You Love," while still retaining their signature nostalgic sound. The track features thick, soupy synths paired with punchy drums and intricate plucks, all punctuated by walls of guitars and heavily distorted lead lines. Each section of the song builds with an intensity that leaves listeners feeling euphoric yet emotionally raw, mirroring the cathartic experience of therapy.

New State Masses are gearing up to release their highly anticipated debut EP later this year, continuing their collaboration with Agricultural Audio and Ben Hillier.
