Mild Horses On the Making Of “Eye Of The Behemoth”

What inspired you to write the music for "Eye Of The Behemoth?"

This particular track came from experimenting with some different instrumentation and textures and trying to make something with a higher tempo than the previous Mild Horses album (‘Return To Dust’ ). As pleased as I was with that record it was quite a slow, meditative album and I'm always looking to do something different.

How did you work with the producer or engineers to bring your vision for this track to life?

I like working alone. Having spent the rest of my musical career in bands and collaborating I like the freedom to just create for the sake of it and have learned the craft of producing and engineering myself.

How do you feel "Eye Of The Behemoth" represents your artistic identity?

It shares some of the DNA and influences of previous Mild Horses releases, but tries to do something a bit different with them, and throws some new things into the mix (such as Jazz and DnB).

How do you approach creating something new and different?

Sometimes the idea will be there already and I'm just trying to replicate what is in my head and sometimes I have to pick up an instrument and then will it into being!

Are there any specific themes or messages that you aim to convey through your music?

I've always tried to work in a variety of emotional textures. There's some joy, some humour, some sadness and mostly just a kind of freewheeling creativity where anything goes. Making music is fun (except when it isn't)!
