Michellar On the Making Of “LOVE EARTH”
Can you tell us about the inspiration behind "LOVE EARTH" and the story it tells?
Being a landscape architect, I often worked outdoors in the field, surrounded by the beauty of nature in the last 30 years of my career. Seeing changes around my work and the world, kept me aware of climate change and how it has become impactful in our everyday lives.
Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for this song?
This song started out on a very late-night recording in my studio where I often spend time alone. The solitude always keeps me in that moment of introspection of my days and experiences I have. I finished the song in one sitting thinking about my work and my environment.
What impact do you hope "LOVE EARTH" will have on your audience?
I hope to encourage everyone around the world that it will take global action to hopefully reverse the damage of human intervention on the earth's situation and increase awareness that our young will benefit from what we do now.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?
I started playing guitar at the age of nine and songwriting at 15. Growing up in a musically inclined family - my home has always been filled with music.
Can you walk us through your creative process when writing and composing music?
I dedicate at least 3-4 hours a day in my studio where I go through several chord progressions until I strike one that suits my fancy at the moment. I don't plan on writing a song ... I just plan on creating something - whether it is a melody, a harmony or a set of lyrics. The song comes to me almost spiritually because when the flow starts ... I am entranced and can't stop until I finish something worthy of putting down and recording.
