Can you tell us about the inspiration behind "Strange Couple Of Birds" and the story it tells?

The inspiration came from years of touring, and playing wonderful DIY performance spaces, venues, bars, the works. Falling in love with how wonderful and intimate the whole experience was. Including all the little birds we've met along the way.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for "Strange Couple Of Birds?"

The big sing-a-long at the end (we wait, we wait, we wait) was a pretty memorable moment for all of us, and our good buddies Kyle and Nick (thanks for singing along guys)

What are you most proud of this track?

The energy, the feeling, it’s so naturally us in every way.

Are there any specific themes or messages that you aim to convey through your music?

Always. Every song and album is different. But each has its own special message for our fans and listeners.

How do you balance the artistic aspects of your music with the business side of the industry?

Lots of whiskeys ;) haha, I kid. Balancing the artistic aspects of our music with the business side of the industry is a crucial endeavor for MATAS. We believe that maintaining this equilibrium is essential to not only sustaining our creative integrity but also ensuring our growth and success in the music industry.

First and foremost, our band places a strong emphasis on the artistic process. We prioritize expressing our unique musical identity, experimenting with different sounds, and pushing the boundaries of our creativity. Our music is a reflection of our emotions, experiences, and the stories we want to share with our audience. If that makes sense :)
