Low Phase On the Making Of ‘Star Dog’

Can you share any interesting or unique stories or perspectives in 'Star Dog?'

For the most part, these stories blossomed from a couple of very dark years. The people in these stories represent the ailments you pick up along the way. Eventually, you see the light, but it takes asking for help to get there. I think we can safely say that these collections of songs mean something different to all of us, but they sure as hell helped us in one way or another. (Caleb Waldvogel)

Which song do you like the best and why?

The last track on the EP, “Swimming”, has to be our choice! Even as a member of the band, it gives me chills every time I listen to it. It’s a very dynamic song that can have you silent and attentive to singing along by the end. Even though it’s a somewhat challenging song, it is very rewarding when it resonates with the audience. “Swimming” is a good representation of what our music has become and where we think it’s going! (Miles Ferguson)

Can you share any memorable experiences or stories from performing 'Star Dog' live?

Every time we perform “Swimming” live feels magical. Hearing a room full of people singing “I feel the weight coming off” will always feel powerful. Whenever we hear that someone cried during that song, that is a really cool feeling too. Knowing it hit someone where they were and made them feel some relief. (Marley Ferguson)

How did your band members initially come together?

Low Phase was formed from the remnants of several previous projects that we worked on between the four of us. Caleb, Miles, and I (John) have played together for the better part of a decade, and even before that, Miles and I played with Mars in what was my first gigging band. The point is, besides Mars and Miles being immediate siblings, our musical roots run deep and intertwine between the four of us. It's a no-brainer that we ended up with the lineup that we did, and I'm super grateful for them every day. (John Bomer)

Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?

Inspiration is everywhere! That took me a while to learn. You have to digest art to make art, it’s just that simple and it comes in all forms. Whether it’s listening to our favorite artist, reading a book, or having a conversation with a stranger, if you look hard enough for inspiration, you’ll find it. (Caleb Waldvogel)

Here are the answers from the band and who answered each one! Please let us know if you need anything else, otherwise, we are looking forward to seeing the written piece!
