Liqueedo On the Making Of “Out of nowhere”
What was the creative process like for this particular song?
Well, I had already chosen and arranged the songs that were supposed to end up this album. Then one day, after a deep chat with an old friend of mine, I came back home and started strumming Out Of Nowhere chorus…..then came the verse : it took a couple of hours for the vocal part and the lyrics to come together. When the song comes to you, you just have to understand it and seize the inspiration.
What did you enjoy most about making "Out of nowhere?"
The recording session of “Out of Nowhere” was very nice and fast. It's the newest track on the album, so fresh & I sang it with the band only 2/3 times: I had a lot of fun singing it, having just finished creating it shortly before entering the recording studio. It was a very punk and vintage recording, without various tricks or pretenses or autotune... it took me less than an hour to record the vocal part, maybe half an hour: really nice, all very direct.
How does "Out of nowhere" fit into your overall artistic vision and what can listeners expect from you in the future?
“Out of Nowhere" was chosen as the first single because it's rock, it's punk, it's positive yet melancholic, and it has stunning lyrics. It draws heavily from the sound of the early '90s, with a very live sound, reverb, and the vocals embedded within the sound. It's all intentional... I wanted something different from the postproduction we hear everywhere today coz they are too heavy, excessive & irrealistic, which then make the song sound too plastic and full of "steroids"... of course, to do this, you need to know how to play and sing, hahaha.
Was there a pivotal moment in your life when you decided to follow your path as a musician?
What a beautiful question, different from the usual. I believe that the act of playing music has always been within me, and the passion has grown day by day. I just can tell you that I felt simply good and happy when I listened to my CDs or played guitar alone, locked in my room, dreaming of making my own album one day. I could give you 3 moments of my life: the first time I heard "Live Forever," the first time I saw Oasis live and said to myself, "Damn, I don't want to chase a damn ball like a dog... I want to do this, I want to sing my heart out and express the feelings inside" (and trust me, there are very few singers who can truly convey the feelings they have inside, very few!), and in the end, the first time I performed one of my songs on stage, I felt a whirlwind starting from my chest to my spine! It was insane!
What role do you feel emotions play in your music, and how do you channel them into your performances?
Emotions? They're everything to me... They're my bread and butter. Melancholy, despair, anger, happiness, joy: when I write lyrics I try to delve into the deepest corners of the soul, exploring every nook of human feelings. As I mentioned before, I sing about emotions. When I sing, I dig out everything I have inside, truly I live the song and the performance in a visceral way (and I believe the audience can sense and feel that… I hope so). This is what a singer should do and , if you pretend to do it, you'll be looking ridiculous. On stage, I don't pretend... I'm like that kid who sang with the music up locked in his room, dreaming of playing at Glastonbury!
