Kat Von D Releases “I Am A Machine”
Kat Von D has dropped a stunning music video for her latest track, “I Am a Machine,” featuring none other than Alissa White-Gluz, the powerhouse vocalist of Arch Enemy. The song is part of Kat’s freshly released album, My Side of the Mountain, and the video, directed by Vincente Cordero (known for his work with Jinjer, Cradle of Filth, and Suicide Silence), delivers a dark, cinematic experience that perfectly complements the song’s hauntingly electronic vibe.
“I’ve been such a huge fan of Arch Enemy for so long; it’s been a dream come true getting to create music with Alissa,” Kat shared. “I was actually nervous about even asking her to sing on one of my songs, considering I make more dark, electronic music and not metal, but I was so happy and relieved when she agreed to be a part of this album. She’s one of the most talented friends I have. Getting to record her massive vocal range in person was beyond inspiring.”
The track itself was co-written by Kat Von D and renowned songwriter Ferras (who’s penned hits for Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, and Adam Lambert). True to Kat’s signature sound, “I Am a Machine” blends disco goth with influences of synthwave, new wave, and post-punk, offering a modern nod to the iconic electronic styles of the ‘80s. With lyrics that explore themes of love, darkness, and vulnerability, Kat’s music draws listeners into her world of ethereal melodies and romantically macabre storytelling.
Kat Von D is no stranger to the spotlight, having revolutionized the tattoo industry, starred in hit TV shows, written best-selling books, and launched a globally successful beauty brand. But for Kat, music was her first love. With a background in classical music and a lifelong passion for songwriting, she’s now cementing her place in the goth and synthwave scene, with fans and critics alike hailing her as a formidable force in the music world.
Her sophomore album, My Side of the Mountain, builds on the success of her debut Love Made Me Do It, her Exorcisms EP, and singles like “Truth in Reverse,” “Illusion,” “Dead,” and “Vampire Love.” Kat’s music has been featured in Billboard, Loudwire, Consequence, Flaunt Magazine, and Revolver, among others, further solidifying her as more than a tattoo and makeup icon—she’s now a rising star in music.
