JEFF VIDOV On the Making Of “Baby can u dig your man?”

Can you share any interesting or unique stories or perspectives in "Baby can u dig your man?"

This song was inspired by the Stephen King novel 'The stand' and I took the title from the song in the novel. The title inspired me but also the story of the novel as well. And I kept thinking about what would be the last hit song to be played on the radio before the virus wiped out the planet. Most of my music is quite a beat and positive and I really wanted it people to dance to this song and enjoy the energy of it. The song was recorded at my studio. My friend Sean Brock played drums and then I did the guitars and bass and keyboards and orchestra on it. I wanted the song to groove and the song fits into the style of most of my music which is quite a Beat and Rich but I also wanted orchestra on most of my songs as I grew up as a classical musician so I love the orchestra. And I want the orchestra to groove with the band in a rock format.

What has been one of the most significant moments of your musical journey so far?

Some of the significant moments on my musical Journey have been going to Eastman school to become a better classical musician and also meeting a lot of wonderful people in the business at an early age who are successful. I met a lot of big classical composers like John Corigliano and Milton Babbitt. And studied with some great composers. I also worked at Sony Studios in New York City when I was younger and got to assist in sessions with the Doobie Brothers and the cure and many more and that really inspired me.

Do you have a personal favorite among your compositions? What makes this piece special to you?

What I really focus on a lot of my songs as well as the lyrics and that they are intelligent lyrics and have a personal message to The listener. I'm a big fan of poetry so I will sometimes quote some famous poets in my lyrics as well has a nod to their inspiration. I really feel this song has sparked something in many listeners lately and the feedback has been really tremendous. It's being played on radio across the world right now and everyone seems to be connecting to it musically and lyrically and everyone loves the video.
