Glytsh “VHS”

Smashing, epic and mind-blowingly good. “VHS” aka Vulgar Holy Spirit, gives you a smashing sonic experience that is deemed to blow your mind off within 30 seconds. Their inventive, flash-and-splash sonic palette evokes the audio-visual experience of both intricate, palpable hits and atmospheric transcendence. Glytsh exuberant love to scream and make heavy and aggressive riffs are at the heart of “VHS,” but it’s their authenticity and ambition to experiment and create diverse, distinctive, genre-less music that earns your respect.

From head to tail, Vulgar Holy Spirit’s presence controls the vibe. It sucks you into its otherworldly vibration, breaking very bones in your body and retuning them for resonance. “VHS” is not just a song you listen to with your ears, but your whole body, where you have disappeared and become a part of the vibe. Glytsh’s music is as majestic as it is totally wicked. Their ability to assume unyielding dominance and transit everyone to a whole different dimension is truly astonishing. Listening to their music is like being brain-fucked over and over again, but you take pleasure in the experience and naturally appreciate this rare and unlikely scene that they calls upon.

Glytsh has something truly unique and amazing in their hand and the listeners know. Essentially everyone who has ears know just how good they are within seconds. The good news is, the hit-makers are on the move, and they have no plan of slowing down.

Punk Head: I love your unique blend of grunge, metal, and emo on "VHS." Tell us more about the song. Is there a real person/event inspired its creation?

Hella Sin: Thank you! We’re always inspired by real-life events that happen to us, without being too specific so that people can still have their own interpretation.

PH: How did you two initially come together?

Hella Sin: We met in 2021 in a rock cover band. It was still pandemic times and we both had left our respective original bands and were looking for something new. I immediately loved Luna’s vocals and stage presence. We bonded straight away and decided to start writing music together and here we are today!

PH: In your own words, how would you describe the music that you typically create? What was your favourite moment in making the music video?

Hella Sin: I would say it’s a mixture of everything we like when it comes to music: heavy riffs, aggressive electronic bass, screams, mega powerful and catchy choruses, industrial noises and glitches (of course). We want to create genre-less music. We tend to write heavy songs, but not always.
The music video shoot was intense! We were very short on time and had to shoot 2 full videos in the space of 6 hours. It was in a church in North London. I’m very happy with the results, considering the very few resources we had (it was basically just us and our videographer).

PH: What is coming up next for you?

Hella Sin: We are preparing for our debut gig! It will be in London at the Grace on June 14th. We both have done countless gigs before, but it will be the very 1st time performing under the name Glytsh. We will also have a few new singles coming up this year, including a very cool collab. We are constantly writing new stuff and looking to book more shows!

PH: What motivates you as artists?

Hella Sin: What motivates me is the opportunity to use our music as a way to express ourselves and the issues that we care about, while also connecting with our audience on a deeper level. We have faced our own challenges in the music industry too and we strive to create a space where people from all walks of life can come together and find strength and solidarity in our shared struggles.
