Giardini Oort On the Making Of “Hypnosis”
How did you come up with the idea?
The idea for “Hypnosis” came from reflecting on the repetitive patterns of daily life and how they often leave us feeling trapped in a maze of our own making. I wanted to explore the concept of modern hypnosis—the subtle ways technology, routines, and expectations shape our perception of reality. The labyrinth became a central metaphor for these patterns, representing both the challenges and the potential for discovery.
How did you approach the arrangement and composition of the music for "Hypnosis?"
The arrangement was designed to mirror the hypnotic and cyclical nature of the song’s themes. I used analog synthesizers to create evolving layers of sound, complemented by the resonant tones of the RAV drum to ground the track in something organic. The vocals, alternating between English and Italian, were intentionally blended into the soundscape rather than dominating it, symbolizing the state of “deep hypnosis” ("ipnosi profonda" in Italian) described in the lyrics. Rhythmic patterns evolve subtly throughout the song, reinforcing the sense of a journey through a labyrinth.
How does "Hypnosis" into your overall artistic vision?
"Giardini Oort” is about crafting immersive experiences that combine sound, storytelling, and introspection. “Hypnosis” embodies this vision by blending atmospheric soundscapes with meaningful lyrics that encourage listeners to reflect on their own lives. The bilingual aspect of the song aligns with my intention to create music that is both universal and personal. It’s a piece that invites listeners to lose themselves in the sound while also finding new perspectives.
Can you tell us more about you as an artist?
I’m a multidisciplinary artist who combines electronic experimentation with organic textures to create music that facilitates meditation, reflection, and emotional exploration. My studio is my sanctuary—a space filled with instruments, synthesizers, and plants that inspire creativity. As the sole creative force behind Giardini Oort, I enjoy blending different influences, from ambient and electronic to singer-songwriter traditions, to create music that transcends genres while staying deeply personal.
Are there any specific themes or messages that you aim to convey through your music?
My music often explores themes of self-discovery, the tension between control and surrender, and the balance between technology and humanity. With “Hypnosis,” I wanted to highlight the need to break free from the illusions of modern life and rediscover our connection to the present. Through sound and lyrics, I aim to create spaces where listeners can reflect on their own journeys and find meaning in the labyrinth of life.
