Gianfranco Pescetti On the Making Of “Stopless”
How does "Stopless" reflect your musical journey and growth as an artist?
"Stopless" is a track from my upcoming album. Like on my previous album, I’m seeking to take the listener on a sonic trip, blending diverse emotions. The track is part of a mid-album shift towards an up-tempo, dance-oriented vibe while maintaining the dark undertones I can’t get away from. This track definitely pushed me farther towards the dance floor.
What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of "Stopless?"
I envisioned the track as a bass-driven where the rhythm would lay the foundation for the rest of the musical elements to build upon. With this in mind, I worked out a groove that would not only be relentless (Stopless!) but also set the vibe for the entire track.
Were there any specific recording techniques or equipment used to achieve the desired sound?
I played my jazz Fender 1977 bass, which I love for its Motown sound. I also experimented with a variety of plugins and tweaking sounds until arriving to the right one. I merged live bass and keyboard with electronic elements. I’m really into blending vintage and contemporary sounds/techniques.
How do you feel this single represents your artistic identity or musical evolution?
“Stopless" is another side of the same picture. While the track may seem like a departure from my previous works, which leaned towards less dance-oriented styles, it is still me trying new things and exploring diverse musical styles.
I’ve always tried to step outside my comfort zone and experiment with new sounds, rhythms, and textures.
Are there any upcoming projects or releases that you're particularly excited about?
I'm looking forward to my new album, which is scheduled for release in November (fingers crossed!). It's been a labor of love, and I can't wait to share it! After that I'll probably put together a live show and bring the music to life.
