Gary Dranow Releases “Destiny Road (Remix)”
Is there a particular ethos behind the single/EP/album or any particular music styles or events that inspired it?
Destiny Road (Re-mix) was written by dranow the morning after he had the most vivid dream of his life. All of the events in the dream came to be two years after it was written and recorded with Dranow suddenly picked up and moved to Park City, Utah, where he still lives 23 years later, His wife Liz, his fourth, was the world traveler in the dream and the song. They got married shortly after they met on the slopes of Park City Mountain Resort. They will be celebrating their 19th anniversary on January 3rd, 2024.
Can you briefly describe what the song/each song is about?
Destiny Road and its fourteen songs all stemmed from a very vivid dream he had in 1996. The album with songs such as Mellow Drama, Destiny Road, and The King is Dead is literally an autobiographical-themed album about Dranow living with and learning to cope with his Bipolar 1 Disorder diagnosis. His psychiatrist, Dr. Kalm )Yep, that is his name, got Dranow on the right cocktail of psychotropic medications which has left Dranow with mania (why he has been and continues to be so productive all his life and up until now. He turns 70 in March. 10. 2024.
Where was the single/EP/album recorded and who was involved in its production?
The Destiny Road album (14 songs) was initially written by Dranow in 1997, when he moved from Manhattan Beach, CA to Park City, Ut he left the two-inch 24-track tapes back in Los Angeles with his bass player and musical director Jerry Manfredi. Dranow had a stroke in 1998 and had to stop playing music for about 10 years. But he slowly started to relearn the guitar in 2015. Then in 2021, he reformed the Manic Emotions with considerable help from his music buddy Jeff Lawrence. Jeff finally found Dranow a Bass player and Drummer, and they started playing local gigs in late 2021. About that time Manfredi shipped a seventy-pound box to Dranow. It had the 6 AMPRX 2-inch tapes in it. At that time Dranow met Tim Wilson, a music producer, and Wilson found a Studio in Lakewood California, Deep Signal Studios, that specialized in taking analog tracks off of reels and converting them into Wav stems. They had to "Bake" the tapes for about two weeks and in about a month Wilson got the digital tracks and started mixing. Dranow started releasing Destiny Road tracks in August of 2022. By May of 2023, eleven singles had been released, and then the album on my 26, 2023. Dranow had moderate success with the original Masters and gained 15,000 followers on Spotify by the time the album was released. As mentioned earlier, Dranow and Zoupa have written arranged, and recorded 24 new songs from mid-2022 to the current and are still cranking out songs sat the clip of one a week. Zoupa and Dranow are now partners. Wilson, wanting to spend more time on his own projects found Dranow and Zoupa Jason "Majic" Jones, initially as their project drummer, and eventually replaced Wilson as the production manager. Jones is on all Never Give Up songs even singing their multi-language hit, The Cry of War. Just recently, by way of Roman Burda Dranow and Zoupa, they met Klim Apalkov, a Ukrainian world-class singer and a producer in his own right. He produced and sang on Destiny Road (Re-mix) which is dropping today with much Fanfare. Apalkov will be producing and singing on Destiny Road (Re-mastered). As an aside Dranow and Zoupa have started an EDM project with the first song Lost and Found being released on December fourteenth and followed quickly by The Rhythm Fills My Soul, which is anticipated to be a dance hit at clubs with DJs, then Still Raining will be Astralix's third release in early January 2024.
Who are the band members and what do they play?
Gary Drsanow and the Manic Emotions. We play Alt Rock to Hard Rock. English and Ukrainian songs. Gary has released singles from his Destiny Road album which Gary and Klim are re-mixing now, and he has four songs from his 24-song double album, Never Give Up. Starting in January of 2024 the band will be releasing one song a week for 24 weeks. Gary, Chris and Klim are already writing songs for their third album.
Have you played any notable gigs, festivals or other events? Likewise radio or TV appearances?
We currently have the number-one English Rock song in Ukraine. As of today, the Ukrainian version has been released on Spotify and all music stores worldwide. The band has put out an official music video for the Ukrainian version which is now up on Gary's YouTube channel, the response is huge!
