Feature: The Trusted Decodes “The Lightning”
What was the creative process like for this particular single?
I remember we started writing this one a few years ago before just leaving it in a box somewhere. We stumbled across it last year and we were all taken back by how cool it sounded. I think having that space between writing the song and recording it really helped reach the song’s full potential.
How did you work with the producer or engineers to bring your vision for "The Lightning" to life?
We had a rough demo with a certain vibe and Rees our producer gave us the space to build upon what we already had. In the studio we kinda just want to make things sound bigger and slicker. Rees is really good at taking our ideas and putting them on a big sonic metaphorical imax screen.
How does "The Lightning" fit into your overall artistic vision?
It showcases another side of our sound. The indie genre or whatever you want to call it, is incredibly broad. We are into so many different bands and stuff. “The Lightning” adds more textures to this ‘trusted world’ we are trying to build with our music.
How do you continuously grow and evolve as a band?
I think by continually pushing ourselves and making mistakes along the way. We are always learning how to be a better band. The whole thing is a journey and evolution is just a natural part of the process.
Can you share a standout moment from one of your live performances that you'll never forget?
I think for us, whenever the crowd starts singing our words back to us. We’ve had this happen a few times on stage. It’s without a doubt, the best feeling in the world. In some ways, It almost feels like a climax to everything we do as a band, the ultimate compliment!
